…and lets fans create their own granola with Bear Naked
Watson – IBM’s emotionally intelligent super-computer that beat human rivals at Jeopardy - is now helping Millennials create their own customized granola blends with Bear Naked. Shoppers can choose from three base granolas, select up to three additional ingredients (with some unique culinary pairings suggested by Chef Watson from jalapeños to hemp seeds), and customize the packaging, for $9.99 with free shipping.
According to Christopher Tutor, who heads up the Bear Naked custom initiative: “We designed the offering focused on our millennial consumer who has an explorer mindset when it comes to food and is looking for new flavors, ingredients, and combinations of ingredients.”
While custom-making products for individuals making single orders isn’t cheap, acknowledged Tutor, “We’ll learn and iterate as we go. We are excited to see how consumers respond to the product and experience.”
So will the data from purchases made through the site influence new products or limited editions in future?
Said Tutor: “We look forward to seeing what ingredients and combinations of ingredients appeal to consumers, and we’ll use that information to inform both future iterations of Bear Naked Custom Made Granola and our broader innovation pipeline.”
