Private label penetration rates
While Nielsen data indicates that private label penetration rates have plateaued at around 18%, it excludes some faster-growth perimeter categories and fast-growing retailers (Trader Joe’s, ALDI) for which private label accounts for a higher proportion of sales, says Bernstein, which estimates that penetration rates in the US are now closer to 20%, and growing.
