Pepsi True: Helping consumers get back to the fun and refreshing side of cola?
First there was Coca-Cola Life (which Sanford Bernstein reckons has got off to a 'lackluster' start in the US), and now there is Pepsi True. They're both sweetened with sugar and stevia, and both come with a 'green' label - presumably meant to convey a more natural positioning, although neither make 'all-natural' claims on pack.
Pepsi True - which has 60 calories and 16g of sugar per 7.5oz can - will be available exclusively on Amazon from mid-October in 24-packs of 7.5-ounce cans, a move PepsiCo says will help it assess demand ahead of a wider launch.
"Sweetened with real sugar [as opposed to the fake variety?] and stevia leaf extract", has "30% less sugar than regular Pepsi and contains no high-fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners", said the company. "We're helping consumers get back to the fun and refreshing side of cola".
