Next we head to the beverages aisle, which has been a hotbed of innovation, especially in the HPP (high pressured processed) segment, which now spans everything from maple water and coconut water to cold-pressed juices such as Suja.
While WTRMLN WTR (watermelon water) is technically a 100% juice rather than a ‘water’, WTRMLN WTR has a lot less sugar than most juices (60 calories, 12g sugar per 8floz serving vs 100+ calories and 20g+ sugar for an equivalent amount of orange juice) but still packs an impressive nutritional punch (740mg of potassium, 540mg of L-Citrulline, an amino acid for muscle recovery; and 9.5mg of lycopene), and it impressed retail buyers at the recent Expo West show in Anaheim.
Not only does it taste incredible, says co-founder Jody Levy, there is really nothing like it on the market: “It’s a totally new category.”
A cold pressed, high-pressure processed product with a 45-day shelf life, WTRMLN WTR contains just three ingredients: watermelon flesh, watermelon rind, and lemon – with no added sugar, water or flavors.
