Let’s get personal. Your microbiome, your blood sugar and you
Next we shifted gears to focus on personalized nutrition, with Lihi Segal, CEO of DayTwo, explaining the link between an individual’s microbiome and his or her blood sugar reactions to different foods, which could explain why some people following an apparently healthy diet still find their blood sugar levels hard to control.
Based on this research, DayTwo is using machine learning algorithms to predict individuals’ responses to different foods and to develop personalized diets that regulate blood sugar levels, said Segal, who noted that glycemic index numbers – which are based on averages – may not provide a very accurate picture of how your body will respond to certain carb-containing foods.
