Taste Test Friday
Kickin’ Southwest needs more ‘kick,’ testers report
Americans can handle more spice than most packaged food manufacturers believe, according to several taste-testers who sampled Ready Pac’s Kickin’ Southwest salad, which was a blend of Romaine and cabbage with tortilla strips and Monterey Jack cheese. Fleming explained the salad “needs to be a little bit more spicy to be considered Southwest.” He also was turned off by the creamy-based of the salad dressing, which Ready Pac described as indulgent but which Fleming felt was too heavy.
