It's a race to the bottom...it’s really scary to see what’s happening
"On yogurt pricing, I do feel that it is a race to the bottom right now, and the category is becoming very commoditized... In just the last year, the price points have changed significantly.
"When I entered the market, common promotions were 10 [yogurts] for $10, or 4 for $5, and now we've got products at 88c or 95c. You've got big mainstream brands that are supposedly premium and they are below a dollar; it’s really scary to see what’s happening.
"So my hats off to the guys, especially Smari and brands like Siggi’s and Noosa, that have been able to separate their brands from all that and not get caught up in the price game." Winston Lee, founder, Tarte Foods
