‘Plant-protein’ resonates with consumers more than some named proteins
Asked about their interest in trying foods or beverages with plant proteins, brown rice protein, oat protein and soy scored well (with insect protein at the bottom of the pile), with ‘plant protein’ in general viewed more favorably than many individual proteins (pea, soy etc). Millennials were found to have a more favorable perception of soy protein than the total population, while not all consumers were aware that ‘casein’ and ‘whey’ were dairy proteins.
